By age 26, Shannon was recruited by McGraw-Hill Companies as a Senior Producer overseeing a nationally syndicated ABC morning news franchise. As head of production, Shannon’s responsibilities included developing on-air segments, commercial spots and online content by cross-branding the company’s umbrella of business units – all while pitching segments for sponsorship, managing operations, revenue and distribution, and working in the field as a Producer/Writer/Director.
Since then, Shannon has produced, written and directed television, documentary, news, commercial, corporate and live event projects spanning across 15 countries throughout North America, Europe and Asia, including shoots in China and India. She has produced projects for The History Channel, ABC, PBS, Reelz Channel, A&E and MTV, and has won multiple awards, including one Emmy Award and an additional Emmy Award Nomination.
With writing as her passion, Shannon’s feature articles and op-ed pieces have been published in the Los Angeles Daily News and The Signal daily newspapers.
In her spare time, Shannon volunteers for Boys and
Girls Town in Compton teaching creative writing to at-risk teens, and has sat
on the Board for Kids’ Turn San Diego helping families and children through the
divorce process. She also recently volunteered as the Moderator for an Arts and
Media Panel Discussion for the Los Angeles County School District and is
currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in English with teaching credentials in
order to teach creative writing to at-risk youth professionally someday.
